My globes are here! My globes are here! They arrived this weekend and I couldn’t wait to share them with you all. Funny story…I paid little attention on the website to what the “varying” sizes might be. I think I was picturing a range from a tennis ball to a softball. My first thought when I saw the box was, ‘well that’s just silly to pack something that small in a box that big.’ Friends…I was wrong! The largest globes are almost the size of basketballs! Now I’m even more intrigued about how to arrange these in my home, and even more convinced the purchase was money well spent. I love the dramatic scope, they just won’t be going in a bowl on my desk like I originally thought :) Here’s a quick pic I snapped with my iPhone. Readers, any ideas on how to decorate with these spheres?
While my mercator spheres chart the routes traveled by early explorers, I’ve also been reading about the man who discovered how to track longitude in Dava Sobel’s interesting book. Longitude was great beach reading and gives an entertaining glimpse into one of the most exciting discoveries of the 1700s.
I’m also loving this nautical compass wall decal from Leen the Graphics Queen. The details are crisp and gorgeous. This would look amazing in a New England style cottage or anywhere you want to inject some old-world nautical style.

i think the globes on a bookshelf would be nice…like situated on top of some horizontally stacked books and up against some vertically stacked books…
